Mr. Ken came out to treat our drywood termite in two spots of our home. So thankful he explained everything and we decided to open the drywall for better spot treatment which helped a lot. Ken was very quick to inspect my prospective new home. I noticed some pile ups and was concerned about termites. Upon inspection Ken clarified it was ants and not termites. This is one of the easiest reviews I’ve written! Ken, the owner of Bug State Pest Control, is a consummate professional who is extremely knowledgeable but also practical and he will *NOT* recommend unnecessary treatment options just to enrich his bank account. In my case, I had an active dry wood termite infestation. While the first company I contacted recommended whole-house tenting — the “nuclear” option costing thousands of dollars, Ken was practical by looking for reasonable mitigation alternatives. He inspected the active area and did not find obvious damage to the hardwoods or subfloor so he recommended a spot treatment costing only hundreds of dollars. He was able to treat same day and we’ll monitor the area to see if the termites return. Bug state led by Ken came by 2 of my properties 2 months ago to spray for pest. Mr Ken started but ran into issues on each house . One had a water damage ground, the other needed to be lifted. Mr Ken gave me his word that he had no problem with coming back absolutely free and finishing once my problems was resolved. Ken is very knowledgeable about termite treatment/prevention/detection. I contacted several termite inspectors for quotes; Ken is the only one who actually went inside my house and did moisture reading off the drywall. Other inspectors just simply walked around the house and gave me quotes. Ken pinpointed the location of possible termite activity, and he got it right! Other inspectors missed it, but Ken caught the issue. I’m very happy that I hired Ken for his service. Ken is professional, patient, and in good understanding of the homeowner’s concerns. Ken at Bug State was incredibly helpful. I had potential new termite damage and called 3 companies to come out to assess the damage and give quotes. Ken was, by far, the most honest, helpful and informative. He also spent the most time inspecting the damage and talking me through it. He said it could go either way, but that based on the type of termite, we might want to watch and wait rather than tent everything immediately, which saved nearly $5,000. He was also honest about what we could do ourselves, v what a professional needed to do. He told me what to look for in the future, gave tips on what to do to termite-proof the house as much as we can, and made a life-long customer. I'll be sharing his info with friends and family. Can't recommend highly enough! Note: As a woman, I have varying results when men come out to give quotes. Ken was fantastic. He was also very nice to the painters who were working here.
